NEWS: Premier IT awarded extensive Floorwalking contract at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust

Further to a competitive tender, Premier IT, in partnership with Training Synergy, was awarded the contract by BT Health, to provide a team of 150 Floorwalkers to support staff during the roll out of the Cerner Millennium patient administration system at St George's Healthcare NHS Trust.

The Trust went live with the system on 27th March 2010 when teams of Floorwalkers, with relevant Cerner experience and exceptional interpersonal skills, were simultaneously deployed across many different wards and departments to assist Trust staff during this critical go-live period.

In addition to Premier IT's own in-house team of Cerner specialists, Training Synergy put forward a team of Cerner experienced training consultants for the Floorwalking roles. Training Synergy managed the recruitment and selection process and all candidates were interviewed and undertook online assessments to verify their area of Cerner specialty, before being recruited. All Floorwalkers assigned to the project received detailed training from Premier IT on Cerner Millennium, incorporating the Trust's local processes used in areas such as A&E, Inpatients, Outpatients and Maternity. The quality of the Floorwalking service is paramount to this project and all Floorwalkers were required to complete online post course assessments that were created by Premier IT, to demonstrate their Cerner skills and knowledge, before being selected to join the programme.

Further to the recruitment and selection of the Floorwalkers, Premier IT and Training Synergy are responsible for the planning, scheduling and deployment of the Floorwalkers to the areas of need. Premier IT has deployed its own web-based scheduling system, TASK Manager, to manage resources and utilise technology such as automated SMS to contact Floorwalkers about changes to processes and system updates. Communicating quickly and effectively to large teams of people across disparate locations is one of the key success factors of a project of this nature. The TASK Manager system provides automated attendance reports and Floorwalker performance feedback, essential to ensure that BT Health and St George's quality standards are met at all times.
